Cities fight for Google Fiber … whatever that is

Fresno and scores of other cities nationwide are clamoring to be named as testing grounds for Google’s experimental ultra-fast Internet network — yet they have only a vague notion of what that would mean.

Amid all the hype — publicity stunts, YouTube videos, Facebook fan campaigns — Google Inc. is playing hard to get. Especially when it comes to answers.

The Mountain View-based company says it wants to create a network in at least one city that apparently would put fiber-optic cables into every home and office.

Sydney White struck out nine in a complete game and Leesa Greshman had six strikeouts in her start as Clovis West swept Bullard, winning 2-1 and 4-2.

Caruthers’ Hayley Nason had eight strikeouts and blanked Dos Palos for a 7-0 win. Caruthers also beat Coalinga 8-6 behind Marissa Suarez’s three RBIs.

Union Bank, N.A., has named Paul Campanario regional manager of Union Bank’s Central Valley in-store branches. Campanario is responsible for managing the division’s eleven retail branches located in Savemart and Albertson’s stores from Merced County to Kern County .

Sticking with it and staying positive

From time to time I get down and out about how long college is taking me to complete. My sister, four years younger than myself, is graduating from UC Irvine with a degree in nursing this June. I’m proud of her accomplishment – she’s definitely earned it. But in the same breath I’m disappointed with myself. In the four years it has taken her to start and finish her program, I am barely beginning my junior year.
