COMMUNITY
Exceptional volunteer
Lannie Moon, a former City of Clovis staff member, received the Anita Daughtrey Award at the 27th Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner April 9 at the Veteran's Memorial Building. The award is presented each year to a community volunteer who has overcome obstacles, strived to set an example and has never let a disability stop them from becoming a community leader. Moon suffered a stroke during her retirement, underwent months of therapy to recover from the effects of the stroke and is actively volunteering for the city in the Records Division of the Clovis Police Department while she recovers.
The dinner also honored all 370 volunteers who donate their free time for the betterment of the community. Mayor Bob Whalen, council members and key city staff representing city departments were in attendance.
