Setting it straight
A brief in Saturday’s Business section incorrectly reported that eight former County Bank branches would close that day. The branches — Stockton, north Clovis, Sunnyside, Delhi, Newman, Coalinga, Farmersville and Lemoore — are set to close May 15.
Clovis council will get tougher on group housing
Tighter restrictions will soon apply to Clovis properties used for group housing, such as sober-living homes, boarding houses and homes for parolees and probationers, Clovis City Council members decided Monday night.
Armstrong is Clovis mayor for fifth time
Most folks in Clovis call Harry Armstrong the mayor, even in years when he isn’t.Now they will be correct again.Armstrong, 78, who has served on the Clovis City Council for 38 years, was named mayor Tuesday night for an unprecedented fifth time. In the nearly 100-year history of Clovis, nobody else has been mayor more than twice.
Drug evidence found after home invasion
The shooting of a Clovis man and the beating of his father early Tuesday occurred in connection with a narcotics-related home invasion, Clovis police said.
Highlights from March 18
SOFTBALL
Vinnessa Johnson and Jasmine Bustamante each drove in a run in the second inning to help McLane defeat Hoover 2-1 in a nonleauge game. Chelse Roberts drove in Kapri Angotti in the bottom of the ninth inning, lifting Clovis past Bullard 4-3 in game one. The Knights defeated the Cougars 2-1 in the night cap of a nonleague doubleheader.
