Central gets another shot at Stockdale
Justine Vela pitched in just six games as a freshman for Stockdale High last season.But Central softball coach Scott Gorton remembers one of them quite well.Vela fired a four-hitter in Stockdale’s 2-1 victory over Central at the Buchanan Preseason Tournament.
Panthers strive for different outcome

Clovis PD targets underage alcohol sales
Clovis police are using a grant from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to target bars and liquor stores selling alcohol to minors. Officers use underage decoys who attempt to buy alcohol at area locations. Any bartender or clerk who sells the decoy faces fines of $1,000 or more.
Local briefs: Man, stepson held after stabbing each other
A 31-year-old Clovis man and his 17-year-old stepson from Merced were arrested early Sunday after stabbing each other during an argument at a family birthday party in Clovis, police said.
