Flea market fun

Yoshi Now!, the downtown emporium of all things retro and odd, is holding its annual spring flea market on Saturday.
It addition to the vintage goods inside the store, local vendors and average Joes sell their valuables … or their junk … in the parking lot.
Making it more than a flea market, there’s live music from such local bands as Motel Drive and The Overdubs, plus food, coffee and more.
Third Day is back

Christian rock heavyweight Third Day is back in Fresno on a new concert tour with yet another No. 1 album under its belt.
Third Day will play Sunday night at Warnors Theatre. Expect tunes from “Revelation,” the band’s ninth studio album, which was released last year.
Also on the tour: Grammy nominee Brandon Heath and pop/rock band Revive.
Celebrating diversity

AsianFest 2009 celebrates the diverse Asian-American community with cultural demonstrations, martial arts and traditional dance performances. The festival also features Asian cuisine and demonstrations on how to make origami and decorate mochi branches.
The Met turns 25

If you still haven’t seen the renovated new look of the Fresno Metropolitan Museum, then Saturday might be a good day to do so.
The Met is celebrating its 25th anniversary Saturday and offering a discounted admission of $2.50.
There will be a public ceremony at 2 p.m. to mark the anniversary.
The eclectic Orpheus

The Orpheus chamber music ensemble will open the third annual Fresno New Music Festival with a concert featuring eight compositions selected after a nationwide call for scores.
A broad variety of styles, techniques, and compositional philosophies will be presented.
It’s Clovis Rodeo time

The 95th Clovis Rodeo, featuring some of the best cowboys and toughest bulls in bull riding, is considered one of the top three rodeos in California and top 15 of the nation.
Country group Lonestar will perform Friday night.
A parade will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by the coronation of the queen.
Proceeds from the rodeo benefit local charities, including 4-H, Future Farmers of America and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Acclaimed organist to perform Sunday

Renowned American concert organist Gerre Hancock will perform works by DeGrigny, J.S. Bach, Bruhns and Langlais as well as improvisations on submitted themes in this last offering of the Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concerts season. The event is co-sponsored with the San Joaquin Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
The Double Doors

All-star (semi)-local Doors tribute act The Double Doors is back Saturday.
The band only plays a handful of dates per year, so if you’re a fan of the Doors this is one to be at.
The Double Doors usually have some antics up their sleeves to impress Doors fans.
A Portrait of Patsy Cline

Joni Morris and her After Midnight band go back in time to capture the spirit and music of Patsy Cline.
Morris is a Stockton native who has taken her Cline tribute show around the country.
For her Fresno appearance, there are two ticket options: show-only tickets for $25 or show-and-dinner tickets for $42. Dinner is at 6 p.m. The show starts at 8 p.m.
Poetry in Motion II

Poetry and music collide at Poetry in Motion II, which features a headlining performance from Arkansas poet Joshua.
Further poets you’ll hear: Devoya Mayo, Chicago, Tim Z. Hernandez and GFTD1.
Music from Armen Nalbandian, Eva Scow and Ray Moore is also on the bill.
The event is organized by Mayo, who used to throw the Ahh Yeah Poetry Jam at Starline. She started Poetry in Motion as an occasional series.
