Unhappiness reigns at Clovis health care meet

Rep. Devin Nunes held a town-hall meeting Thursday morning in Clovis to explain health-care legislation pending in Congress. What it turned into was a massive gripe session.
Unlike some other health-care forums, however, this one was tame, with few angry outbursts.
Motorcycle fatality is investigated

Fresno police are investigating a fatal collision Sunday night between a motorcycle and a sports car near Blackstone and Ashlan avenues.
Lorenzo “Sancho” Fuentez Jr., 54, of Clovis was killed and his motorcycle passenger was injured.
Guaranty Bank belly up
Regulators on Friday shut down Guaranty Bank in the 10th-largest U.S. bank failure in history.
All of Guaranty’s assets, including four Valley branches, were bought by Spain’s second-largest bank, the first foreign bank to buy a failed U.S. bank.
Beginning today, all of Guaranty’s branches are expected to be rebranded BBVA Compass, the U.S. division of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA.
New pizza spot comes to Clovis

Here’s another restaurant that recently opened at the northeast corner of Willow and Nees avenues in Clovis: TJ’s Pizza Buffet.
On Monday, TJ’s launched in the Parkway Trails shopping center, joining the Guadalajara restaurant that opened in early August.
Clovis forum open to new business ideas
New and early-stage businesses are invited to make presentations to potential investors at the Valley Entrepreneur Showcase at the annual Central Valley Venture Forum.
The forum will be held Sept. 24 at the Veterans Memorial building in Clovis.
The Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at California State University, Fresno, is accepting applications for interested businesses.
