Valley has 3 on volleyball watch list

Buchanan High middle blocker Chloe Ferrari, Clovis West setter Melody Mandelbaum and Sanger setter Korrin Wild were among 50 California high school volleyball players named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association/Underarmour All-America 2009 watch list.

This year’s list includes 383 players from 37 states in all, though more can be nominated.

In November, the association will name 48 players as All-Americans, 24 each on first and second teams. Each of the first-teamers will be invited to play in the Under Armour All-America Volleyball Match & Skills Competition, scheduled for Dec. 20 at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Fla., in conjunction with the 2009 AVCA convention.
