Ashlan closure set today; Shaw-Clovis road work Monday

Beginning today, Ashlan Avenue will have eastbound and westbound lane closures between Locan and DeWolf avenues.

A contractor will be doing median island work that is expected to last 30 days.

And from Monday through Feb. 10, lanes on the northwest, southwest and southeast corners of Shaw and Clovis avenues will be closed for curb repairs.

Drivers are encouraged to give themselves enough time to travel the area safely or avoid the area.

Great! We love to see our roads improved. It will be interesting to see how long it will take before contractors dig trenches across the improved areas like they have been hired to do on Ashland and Shields East of Clovis. Is no one responsible to inspect that the trenches are filled sufficiently with asphalt? And who authorized the enormous hump on Shields near Locan that slows traffic to 30 mph and causes a dangerous perpetual lake this time of year? If the county can’t do any better than that save the money and give it to Sheriff Mims. Also, we need to recycle all the unused stop signs out here. No one stops anyway.

Just noticed that Ashland will be closed again so contractors can screw up the road. I’ve seen no improvement at all and that road has been worked on constantly for the last ten years. Are they going to put some four foot humps in the road, maybe add a lake like the one on Shields? We did get a fancy new toilet out there that has more lights on all night than a small city. Ashland East of Dewolf, in my opinion, has always been dangerous to drive at night.
