Clovis check-cashing business robbed

A man held a cashier at gunpoint during a robbery of a check-cashing business on Shaw Avenue in Clovis on Saturday morning, police said.

Police were called to the Money Mart, 430 W. Shaw Ave., around 9 a.m.

A clerk told police that a man forced her into the store when she was about to open the Money Mart and held her captive for about 20 minutes while he robbed the store, according to a news release.

The suspect is described as tall and slender, with a black, hooded shirt, sunglasses, and a black cloth over his face. He had a silver handgun.
