Clovis Student to Participate in New York City Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide

Alexander Tavlian, Clovis West High School Senior and President of the School’s Armenian Club, will attend the 95^th Anniversary Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide in New York City’s Times Square on Sunday, April 25, 2010. 

The Commemoration will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and the theme is “Turkey is the Question, America is the Answer.”  This historic event will pay tribute to the 1.5 million Armenians who were annihilated in the Ottoman Empire (1915-1923) and address the consequences which are still with us today.

Tavlian is one of three winners of the Knights & Daughters of Vartan/Facing History and Ourselves national essay contest marking this tragic milestone.
