(Fresno, Calif.) – Aspiranet is celebrating 35 years of service to foster children, teens, and families by hosting four separate Feet for Families foot races in California. Participants will lace up their tennis shoes and hit the road to raise awareness of and funding for area foster children, teens, and families.
Fresno Feet for Families will take place on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at Woodward Park, 7775 Friant Rd., Fresno, Calif. Walkers, runners and big-hearted supporters are needed to “walk the walk” in support of Fresno area foster care programs.
“There are over 60,000 children and teens in foster care in California,” said Vernon Brown, CEO of Aspiranet. “Feet for Families is a fun, family-friendly way to support foster children and their families. The funding will go a long way toward ensuring that our foster kids are safe, stable, and supported throughout the year.”
Feet for Families is open to walkers and runners, of every age and athletic ability level. The 5K and 2-mile courses, being directed by Ken Takeuchi of Pro Race Group, begin at the park’s Mountain View Picnic Shelter and travel along Lewis Eaton Trail. Quarter-mile and half-mile courses will also be available for children.
In addition to the fun run/walk, participants will enjoy family-friendly activities, music, healthy snacks, a raffle, as well as the opportunity to support foster children and their families. With every step, runners and walkers will benefit local programs that serve youth currently in and/or emancipating from foster care.
Fresno Feet for Families registration will take place from 6:30 – 7:15 a.m.; the adult race begins at 7:30 a.m. and the kids run begins at 8:30 a.m. Same day registration is available and spectators are welcome.
