New Year and a New Change for the Clovis Sidekicks

"Only The Beginning..."

Clovis, CA (12/29/10) – With the start of a New Year, it is indeed that inevitably, changes will be made.  For the Clovis Sidekicks, it is without a doubt that certain changes will be made such that former Head Coach Milt Contreras, who led the team to an impressive 6-6 record for their inaugural 2010 season, will take over as CEO and President for the 2011 season.  In addition, Erik Potteroff, former Assistant Coach of the Sidekicks, will now succeed Milt Contreras as Head Coach at the start of the New Year.

Erik Potteroff, whom of which his passion for the beautiful game can go unrivaled ever since he began playing as a boy, leading up to his heyday when he played for Fresno State and the semi-professional team during the 90s known as the Fresno Dragons.  Ever since his playing days, he has been involved with assisting multiple youth soccer programs as well as coaching numerous club teams in the Central Valley.

“It feels great being named Head Coach of the Clovis Sidekicks for the 2011 season.”  Said Erik Potteroff.   “I know it will be tough having another strong team in our conference now, but I think it will be a great season not only for our players, but for our fans as well.  This club has learned a lot since its establishment last year and we just have to keep doing what we’re doing to do well for the upcoming season.”

“In terms of looking at the Sidekicks long range, with this change made, it will allow me to promote and oversee operations that I could not do in our inaugural season last year.”  Said Milt Contreras.  “I am very excited that Erik is now the head coach.  There will be high expectations for him such as making the team grow not only as players, but as well as connecting with the community.  I have known Erik for a long time and I feel he is the person who can rise to the occasion and do an excellent job.  More importantly, the youth players within the Central Valley need a mentor program, and I feel he is the person who can help create a backbone within our organization.  With this new professional team entering our conference this season, I will expect higher competition, and this will be an excellent opportunity to show the youth players within the Central Valley that the Sidekicks can play at a very high level.”

With everything falling into place for the Clovis Sidekicks, it will be intriguing to see how things will shape up for them as they enter their sophomore year in the WPSL.
