Baseball and softball highlights April 26
BASEBALL
Central Section No. 1- ranked Buchanan (22-2), third in the state and eighth nationally, edged Clovis 3-0 in the Tri-River Athletic Conference. Dominic Topoozian (8-0) struck out out eight in 5 2/3 innings.
Stowe Empereur fanned 16 in pitching a three-hitter as Fresno Christian blanked Parlier 5-0 in the West Sequoia League.
Andrew Lopez was 4 for 5 with three RBIs as Dinuba defeated Central Valley Christian 18-5 in the Central Sequoia League.
Misa Villarreal pitched a one-hitter and struck out 14 in Lindsay’s 8-1 East Sequoia League win over Strathmore. Chad Hughes broke up the no-hitter with a one-out single in the top of the seventh.
SOFTBALL
Isabel Pelayo drove in Alexis Mireles to tie it and Lea Jimenez then doubled home Pelayo as Fowler topped Riverdale 3-2 in the WSL. Fowler pitcher Breanna Gonzalez played through a broken finger on her throwing hand.
Kelsey Dodd launched a three-run homer as Buchanan beat Clovis North 9-3 in the TRAC.
