Sports briefs: Fuego’s Blanco captures league points, assists titles
Fresno Fuego striker Milton Blanco was named both points and assists champion for the 2011 Premier Development League regular season on Wednesday.
Blanco, who will lead his team into the Western Conference semifinals against Victoria on Saturday, was equal parts provider and finisher for the 13-0-3 Fuego. He had 12 goals and 14 assists to take the scoring crown by two points over Orange County’s Chandler Hoffman.
Blanco had a brief stint in Major League Soccer with Chivas USA in 2005.
Coyotes win Dream title; top performers honored
The Central Valley Coyotes from Hanford beat the Central Valley Phoenix from Fresno to win the team championship at the final Run for the Dream Summer Series track meet at Lemoore High.
The Coyotes scored 242 points, seven ahead of the Phoenix in a field of 18 teams from the central San Joaquin Valley.

Clovis West baseball players commit to colleges for 2012
Clovis West High baseball players Ryan Clark and Scott Silva, a pair of incoming senior infielders, have given oral commitments to UC Santa Barbara and St. Mary’s College, respectively.
Clark is reportedly new coach Andrew Checketts’ first commit from the class of 2012.
Duckering wins overall crown at Visalia tourney
Sean Duckering was the overall boys winner at the Visalia City Junior Open at Valley Oaks on Tuesday. The All-Bee player from Buchanan shot 5-under 139.
Following him in overall play were Christian Torres at 3 under and Jordan Koelewyn at 2 under. Koelewyn led the way in boys 16-17 with Trevor Clayton (1 under) and Dalton Hartman (even) trailing.
Behind Duckering in the boys 14-15 division were Torres, Justin Avery (1 under) and Taylor Fallahsafa (even).
