GIRLS WATER POLO HIGHLIGHTS

Buchanan A will square off against Monache at 1:40 p.m. today and Redwood takes on Clovis East A at 2:30 p.m. in the semifinals of the Buchanan Invitational. All four teams went 2-0 Friday on the first day. Today’s third-place match is at 5 p.m. and the championship at 5:50 p.m.

Strathmore, Memorial A, Lemoore, Tulare Western, Los Banos and Tulare emerged unbeaten from the first day of the 12th annual Pacific Rim Dairy Tournament held at Sunnyside, Memorial and Fresno highs. Action continues today at all three pools.

CROSS COUNTRY HIGHLIGHTS

Clovis West’s boys and Clovis East’s girls won the extra-large school divisions at the Golden West Invitational at Cutler Park in Visalia.

Jose Montreal of McFarland won the boys 5K race in 16 minutes, 10.3 seconds. Jurnee Fernandez of Hoover captured the girls race in 19:30.6. Team champions in other divisions: boys, Monache (large), McFarland (medium), Avenal (small); girls, Monache (large), McFarland (medium) and Central Valley Christian (small).
