In a two-point victory, Clovis West High School won the newspaper sweepstakes trophy for the second time today in the 81st San Joaquin Valley Scholastic Press Association conference at California State University, Fresno.

Clovis West was up against Amos Alonzo Stagg High School of Stockton, which placed second, and Sanger High School, which placed third, followed by Tokay High School of Lodi, Selma High School, San Joaquin Memorial of Fresno and Madera High School, said event coordinator Gary Rice. Tokay took first place in the yearbook competition, followed by Selma and Sanger.

Over 100 students from 17 Central Valley high schools competed in 25 different events in the event sponsored by the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Fresno State, Rice said.
