Valley prep sports highlights for Wednesday, March 21
Jacob Nielsen‘s run-scoring hit-and-run ground out gave No. 1 Clovis North the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning and Koby Cummings followed with an RBI single to lead the Broncos baseball team past No. 7 Clovis 6-4 in the Tri-River Athletic Conference.
Cameron Garver pitched a five-hitter as Memorial edged Sanger 2-1 on Gabe Bejar‘s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh in the County/Metro Athletic Conference.
Daniel Wendel‘s two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning sent Immanuel to a 4-3 Central Sequoia League win over Kingsburg.
SOFTBALL
Katie Pia pitched a four-hitter and Liberty-Madera Ranchos scored three runs in the third en route to a 3-1 nonleague win against Riverdale in a battle of small school powers.
BOYS TENNIS
Kerman’s Saul Valenzuela outlasted B.J. Hobbs 0-6, 6-0 (10-7) at No. 1 singles to help the Lions beat Washington 5-4 in the North Sequoia League.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Destiney Real, Ariel Ross and Megan Kemple all scored hat tricks as three-time defending Fresno Unified School District champion Hoover blew out Bullard 14-1 to open its season.
