Redwood junior Christina Trujillo leads at Len Ross golf tournament

Christina Trujillo took a one-stroke lead after one round at the 65th annual Len Ross Fresno City Junior Amateur golf tournament Monday.

Trujillo, a junior at Redwood High, shot a 75 in the girls 15-17 division and is trailed by Paulette Maskarino of Hanford High in second place. Hannah Sodersten, the defending champion out of Clovis East, is two strokes back.

Russell Takeuchi was in first in the boys 16-17 after shooting a 71. He was the only player to shoot under par in the division.

Other first-round leaders: Justin Avery (boys 14-15), Lane Pulliam (boys 12-13), Brian Stark (boys 10-11), Aidan Tran (boys 7-9), Katie Horsford and Jacqueleine Ngo (girls 12-14), Maya Pugatch (girls 10-11), and Alexa Tran (girls 7-9).

The tournament runs through Thursday.
