Fresno, Clovis firefighters raise funds for dystrophy

The Fresno Fire Department Local 753 and the Clovis Fire Department Local 1695 will conduct a Fill-the-Boot event to raise funds for the Central Valley Muscular Dystrophy Association on Thursday.

Firefighters will be at the intersections of Shaw/Palm, Nees/Blackstone, Shaw/Blackstone, Clovis/Shaw and Clovis/Herndon from 7 a.m. to noon. They will ask passing motorists to donate dollars and change to “Fill the Boot.”

Funds raised will help provide services to local families free of charge; monthly support groups, medical clinics, loan and repair medical equipment and an annual youth summer camp.

MDA provides a pediatric clinic at Children’s Hospital of Central California and an adult clinic at University of California at San Francisco-Fresno.
