Local non-profit offers service that is no longer exclusive for cars

Valet bike parking will be offered at several local events April through September by I Bike Fresno, an initiative of the Bike Happy Foundation 501(c)3 and the Fresno County Bicycle Coalition.

Two events will kick off the first of many upcoming bike valet services. BIG Hat Days in Old Town Clovis,  April14 and April 15, located on 4th street, West of Clovis Ave. and the Unitarian Universalist Earth Day event, April 14, located at 2672 E. Alluvial Ave. in Clovis.

Anyone who rides their bike to an I Bike Fresno bike valet can leave their bike at the booth and have it parked free of charge. The valet service will retrieve the bike when the bike owner returns.

“Bicycle valet is the perfect excuse to ride your bike. You can avoid the parking hassles of driving your car to a crowded event.” said Byron Watkins, President of the Bike Happy Foundation. “Plus, it’s monitored and secure, so you don’t have to worry about your bike.  And, it’s totally free.”

Other events offering bike valet include, Clovis Farmers Market, every Friday night beginning May 11 through September 28, AMGEN Tour, May 16 and Pedaling for a Cure, May 26.

I Bike Fresno was founded in 2010. I Bike Fresno is a campaign and resource to show Fresno that the bicycle is not only a recreational item, but a tool for transportation, independence and joy.

I Bike Fresno is an initiative of the Bike Happy Foundation. Its goal is to educate, encourage and promote bicycling as a mode of transportation for people of all ages through a wide range of messages and mediums; to create and disseminate materials that support bicycle-friendly communities; to develop and execute events and event planning resources to support bicycle-friendly communities; and to generate sponsorships and execute fundraisers to support these efforts.
