Next best thing to Van Halen
Well, Van Halen fans, as you probably know all too well, the band’s August stop at Save Mart Center has been postponed. But if it’s any consolation, tribute band Fan Halen is coming to the Tower Theatre on Nov. 17.
It’s one of a handful of recently announced concerts at the historic theater. Also appearing will be a few familiar faces, such as rock band Y&T, jazz vet Peter White and funnyman Adam Carolla.
Here’s a full list of Tower Theatre’s new concerts:
Nov. 17: Tribute bands Fan Halen and Led Zepagain ($20-$39)
Dec. 8: Comedian Adam Carolla. ($33.50-$43.50)
Dec. 21: The annual smooth jazz Christmas show with Peter White, Mindi Abair and Rick Braun. ($48.50-$68.50)
Jan. 19: Eagles tribute band Hotel California ($29-$39)
Feb. 1: Rock veterans Y&T ($29-$39)
March 28: Singer/songwriter Janis Ian ($29-$39)
All tickets are on sale now, except for the show with Carolla. An on-sale date has yet to be announced. For more info, or to buy tickets, call (559) 485-9050 or go to towertheatrefresno.com.
Previously announced concerts on the Tower’s calendar include: Little Joe Y La Familia (June 23), Los Lonely Boys (Aug. 3), Jake Shimabukuro (Oct. 26).
More $5 country
Radio station Kiss Country (KSKS, FM 93.7) has announced the second of its $5 summer concerts.
It’s happening on June 21 at the Rotary Amphitheatre at Woodward Park and features on-the-rise country acts Kip Moore, Gloriana and local band Whisky Row. You might recall Gloriana because the group opened for Taylor Swift at Save Mart Center.
Tickets cost, obviously, $5. They’re available at the Kiss Country studios, 1071 W. Shaw Ave., at Boot Barn locations in Clovis and Tulare and Valley First Credit Union in Fresno and Madera. Details: ksks.com.
