Sportsbuzz: Fresno State QB Derek Carr on Davey O’Brien Award watch list

Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr is on the watch list for the 2012 Davey O’Brien Award, which was released Wednesday.

Carr is one of 34 quarterbacks on the list, which includes seven semifinalists from last year – Matt Barkley (USC), Tajh Boyd (Clemson), Seth Doege (Texas Tech), Landry Jones (Oklahoma), Keith Price (Washington), Denard Robinson (Michigan) and Tyler Wilson (Arkansas).

In addition, Tennessee’s Tyler Bray (Kingsburg High) and Washington State’s Jeff Tuel (Clovis West High) are on the watch list.

The winner of the award, given annually to the nation’s top quarterback, will be announced Dec. 6.
