Clovis man pleads no contest in two DUI deaths

A Clovis man pleaded no contest Monday in Fresno County Superior Court to two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while driving intoxicated in the deaths of two people in November.

Larry Garcia, 29, of Clovis, will be sentenced Sept. 7 in Fresno County Superior Court.

He was arrested after the crash at Barstow and Minnewawa avenues in Clovis in the early morning hours of Nov. 27.

The crash killed Jessica Matthes, 31, of Sacramento, and Keith Smith, 34, of Clovis.
