The Buzz

Liberty has generated a lot of buzz with its trio of terrific returners in KiKi Robinson (242 kills, 536 assists last year), Haylee Roberts (365 kills, 138 blocks) and Nikki Leonard (133 kills), but until the Central Section proves it has caught up, these rankings will begin with defending Division I champ Clovis West and runner-up Centennial on top. Over the past four seasons, the Golden Eagles (three D-I titles) and Hawks (one D-I title) are a combined 231-62-1 with only 15 losses to section foes. … Much about section hierarchy will be learned this weekend during the Clovis Invitational, a 28-team tournament at Clovis North High that features all of The Bee’s top 10 except for Clovis West. Pool play begins at 2 p.m. Friday before the teams are splintered off into four divisions (gold, silver, bronze and consolation) on Saturday. The gold and silver finals start at approximately 2:30 p.m.
