Kingsburg woman arrested in husband’s death

A Kingsburg woman was arrested Thursday by Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives in connection with the shooting death of her husband inside the couple’s home.

The sheriff’s office said Kathryn Ellis, 48, was arrested Thursday at a relative’s home in Clovis.

She reported an intruder in her 841 Seventh Avenue home to Kingsburg police about 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Her husband, Robert Ellis, 51, was discovered dead in the living room from an apparent gunshot wound.

Kathryn Ellis told detectives that she and her husband had been in their bedroom when they heard a noise from another part of the house. She said she hid in the bathroom while her husband went to investigate.

Moments later, she told investigators she heard gunshots. When she went to check on her husband, she found him lying in the living room, shot to death.

The couple has a 15-year-old son. He was away from the home at a school function when the shooting occurred.
