Schneider Electric moving 240 Loves Park jobs

Schneider Electric is moving manufacturing work from Loves Park to other plants in the U.S. and China.

The Rockford Register Star reports that the move will eliminate 240 jobs building automation and control equipment by the second quarter of 2014.

Schneider officials say the age of the building played a part in the decision. Company spokesman Marty Hanna says the company also had capacity at its other plants in Clovis, Calif., Portland, Ore., and China.

The Loves Park plant serves as Schneider Electric’s field devices product division, which handles hardware components of heating and cooling systems for large buildings.

Hanna said Schneider Electric plans to keep the division headquarters in the Rockford area, but will move the 160 people running the division to another location.
