Fresno State lecturer arrested after threats reported

A Fresno State lecturer was arrested on suspicion of threatening his neighbor and a police officer, Clovis police said Monday.

Officers went to the 2400 block of Sample Avenue Friday morning after Christopher Andrade reportedly made death threats against a neighbor and another person saw Andrade spray-painting a house and knew about “on-going problems” with him, police said.

When an officer arrived, Andrade, 42, began yelling at the officer, who had cited Andrade the night before for trespassing.

Andrade walked toward the officer with a black metal flashlight and a canister of pepper spray. When Andrade refused commands to stop, the officer took him to the ground and arrested him. Andrade complained of injuries and was treated at Clovis Community Medical Center and later booked at the Fresno County Jail.

Officers seized a .40-caliber handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun, which were both loaded.

Fresno State said Monday night that Andrade, a communications lecturer, would not be teaching there for the spring semester while his case is pending.

We first met Chris when we moved to Arizona in 1996. He is so full of life and always had everyone laughing. We have been friends with him now for 17 years. This story is a hard one to believe. We have known for some time that he has had some neighbors that like to give him a hard time. Sometimes people just need to keep their noses on their faces and quit looking for opportunities to make themselves look all important and playing the poor me scenario. If you have a neighbor that you don’t care for, then mind your own business and keep your nose on your side of the fence. So what if Chris wanted to spray paint bright orange on his house. Is that a crime in Clovis? Geez. Get a grip people and when you find you have too much time on your hands then get a JOB or find a hobby other than looking for the faults in your neighbors.

Chris would never hurt anyone much less kill them. This is absurd.

I have known Chris Andrade since I was about 11 years old. He would NVER do anything like what e is being accused of. The media really need to get the WHOLE story enforce publishing such nonsense and ruining a persons image. Chris Andrade is a good man!
