Clovis Criterium Training Series rolls again

Joe Galetti of the Central Sierra Cyclists racing team leads the Masters group through a corner during an early season training criterium circuit series in an industrial park north of Herndon Avenue near Villa Avenue Sunday.
Event director Justin Morgan of Steven’s Bicycles Racing said it was the second clinic of the three-weekend Clovis Criterium Training Series based on a series called the Early Bird Criterium Series launched in Fremont in Northern California 20 years ago. which is still active.
This is the second year the Clovis Criterium Training Series is being held and organizers welcomed about 100 riders, both beginners and seasoned racers. Included were basic skills as well as more advanced clinics plus mock races on the half-mile circuit.
Separate categories of experience were offered with experienced racers offering mentor interaction during the rides. The third and last series is being held next Sunday.
Morgan added that the series offers an access point for all levels, particularly beginners not usually found in the past.
“This is safe, fun and encouraging,” Morgan said.
