An OK Corral in Clovis?

A health care town hall at Clovis East High School — will you walk away wiser, will your ears be burning, will you be in a fistfight?

That’s the sad soap opera being played out in so many health forums around the county as the possibility of covering 47 million uninsured people congeals under the rubric of national health insurance reform.

Hate Vegas, love Clovis?

New commandments for federal employees. If you’re skedding a conference: Pick a travel hub. Make it low cost. And avoid resorts.

So, the Wall Street Journal reports, to avoid any potential appearance of having fun, some federal agencies are telling staff NOT to go to Reno, Las Vegas or Orlando –”unless you can provide robust justification.”

I gave a two-word political update the other day to the leadership team at Clovis Community Medical Center.

Sacramento — “Disarray.” DC — “Uncertainty.”

Every year, we go through this budget meltdown that is aorta of California politics. Call it “bad things happening to good people” or, for the cynical, “fat cats getting what they deserve.”

$60 torsos and tasty tacos

For sale: half of a fake person. Seller: a fake store, a liquidator selling its spoils and that of bankrupt West Coast regional department store chain and onetime Fresno icon Gottschalks.

Browsing at mannequins, shelves and oddball clothing that could fit anorexic rhesus monkeys and the odd color-blind caribou, what a great way for my spouse and I to start our anniversary celebration.
