Clovis Unified’s 2009-10 school year starts Aug. 24

School bells will ring in the 2009-10 year in Clovis Unified Monday, August 24 as more than 37,000 students head back to the classroom for the new year. In anticipation of the start of school, co-curricular camps, intermediate and high school registration and student orientations are taking place in early August.

It’s how you drive the road that counts

After close to 33 years of heading down Herndon Avenue to the District Office early in the morning in order to beat the traffic (even though this route has grown from a two-lane country road to a three-lane expressway), my routine is about to undergo a huge change toward the end of June as my wife and I embark on a new phase of our lives.

Buchanan’s Columbia Space Mission Hosts NASA Astronaut

On May 6 students at Buchanan High School students who are part of the Columbia Space Mission Project will welcome NASA astronaut Greg Chamitoff, Expedition 17 flight engineer, and meet him for the first time on this planet.  Columbia students first met Chamitoff in August of 2008 via satellite downlink from the International Space Station and again through Amateur Radio on the Intern
